Functional Breathwork for Sleep-Disordered Breathing

Snoring, collapsed airways, sleep apnea and disrupted sleep have become prevalent issues in our society. While we often see them as a "normal" part of life, they can actually quite negatively impact our health and the quality of our lives.

Arguably, the most severe form of sleep-disordered breathing is obstructive sleep apnea. In this special 90-minute workshop, Tara will introduce the different phenotypes of obstructive sleep apnea, discuss the ways in which functional breathwork can have a positive impact, and guide you through several simple breathing exercises to improve your sleep and your overall health.

People without sleep-disordered breathing are more than welcome to attend, as the breathing exercises taught in this workshop are equally excellent for optimizing daily life in general

What You Will Get From This Workshop:

  • understand what sleep-disordered breathing is and how it negatively impacts your health
  • discern the different phenotypes of obstructive sleep apnea and understand which can be addressed with functional breathing re-education
  • understand the likelihood of transitioning off of a CPAP machine
  • understand the importance of an integrative approach for improving sleep health
  • learn and practice several simple breathing exercises for positively shifting your health outcome
  • understand how to implement these simple breathing strategies in your daily life for continued benefit
  • understand which common breathing techniques to avoid in order to not further exacerbate your symptoms

This Workshop Will Last Approximately 90 Minutes

30 minutes of lecture | 40 minutes of practice | 20 minutes of Q&A

HOW TO PREPARE FOR CLASS

To get the most benefit out of this informative and experiential workshop, it is best that you show up LIVE in order to ask the most relevant questions for your needs, and to get the most personalized tips possible.  

Even though the workshop will take place via ZOOM, please prepare as if it were a live, in-person class.
(A recording will be made available for 7 days ONLY!)

PREP #1

Everyone who attends will be asked to have their cameras on. Please plan for this class exactly as you would for an in-person experience. 

PREP #2

A full stomach will impact your biochemistry and limit the movement of your diaphragm. Please do not eat for at least 1 hour prior to class.

PREP #3

You may want to wear loose-fitting and/or flexible clothing so that the fabric does not unnaturally limit your breathing.

PREP #4

It is not obligatory, but you may want to have a space available to breathe comfortably on the floor
