The ribs (aka your thorax) are mostly overlooked in every health and fitness modality, yet they are one of the cornerstones of optimum breathing, posture and movement.
Each rib has an influence on whole-body movement, governing not only your physical state, but also your mental state.
This workshop will include some basic anatomy of the thorax. Verity will explain how the ribs "breathe you", instead of the other way around, and demonstrate how almost all shoulder and neck issues are due to the position and movement of the ribs.
She will teach some simple ways to assess your own rib movement - in all three planes - which will allow you to take a deep breath into areas where you may not have been breathing at all!
She will explain the importance of rib stability and mobility for adaptable breathing, which is the secret to longevity. And she will teach 5 of the best PRI-based rib moves that you can take home with you and add to your practice.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR CLASS
To get the most benefit out of this informative and experiential workshop, it is best that you show up LIVE in order to ask the most relevant questions for your needs, and to get the most personalized tips possible.
Even though the workshop will take place via ZOOM, please prepare as if it were a live, in-person class.
(A recording will be made available for 14 days ONLY!)

PREP #1
Everyone who attends will be asked to have their cameras on. Please set your space up in such a way that the instructor can see you in both a standing position, and lying down on your mat.

PREP #2
The body responds better when hydrated. Please have some water available during class.

PREP #3
It is not advisable to eat a heavy meal before the workshop. Please do not eat for at least 1 hour prior to class.

PREP #4
You will want to wear flexible clothing that still allows the instructor to see the basic shape and posture of your body. Please no jeans or stiff pants. You will want to be able to move freely without hindrance.

PREP #5
Some of the class will take place on the floor. If you are sensitive to hard surfaces, please be sure to bring a mat with you.

PREP #6
You will need access to a blank wall in order to correctly perform a handful of the exercises.

PREP #7
If possible, please have access to a mirror for assessing your breathing pattern.
WHO IS YOUR INSTRUCTOR?
Verity Bell
Verity has been teaching movement and breath for over 20 years, a passion born from her own frustrating physical and mental pain issues. It began in her early 20’s with yoga training, which evolved into deep anatomical studies of movement and gait. Her extensive and ongoing training can be found on her website: www.veritybell.co She has helped 1000’s of beautiful bodies, from 3 years old to 98 years old, and has run many retreats; that was before having her two girls. She is passionate about open, curious investigation, movement education, and ultimately self-understanding and empowerment; in order to lead the full, rich lives we want to live.
